LADONNA HUMPHREY
Church of the Firstborn
The Church of the Firstborn is not just a fringe religious group—it is a sect that has operated in secrecy for far too long. Cloaked in the language of faith and tradition, this group has left a trail of destruction that cannot be ignored. What may appear to outsiders as a small, devout Christian community is, in reality, a closed-off, oppressive system that has allowed abuse, neglect, and coercion to thrive under the guise of religious doctrine.

For years, stories have surfaced about the Church of the Firstborn and the harm it has inflicted on its members. One of the most serious issues within this sect is its rejection of medical care. Many documented cases show that members, particularly children, have suffered and even died from preventable illnesses because of the church’s strict faith-healing beliefs. In 2018, the Denver Post reported on multiple child deaths linked to the Church of the Firstborn in Colorado and Oklahoma, where parents refused life-saving medical interventions under the belief that prayer alone would heal their children. These deaths were not accidents; they were the result of a doctrine that prioritizes blind faith over basic human decency and common sense.

Beyond medical neglect, there are countless reports of manipulation, spiritual abuse, and control tactics used to keep members isolated from the outside world. Ex-members have described the church’s authoritarian structure, where leaders dictate nearly every aspect of life, from how women should dress and behave to whom members are allowed to marry. Those who dare to question the church’s teachings or attempt to leave are often shunned, threatened, or labeled as apostates. Families have been torn apart, children have been forced to endure physical and emotional trauma, and individuals who desperately needed help have been told that their suffering was simply "God’s will."
But the worst part? So many of these stories have gone untold. Victims have been silenced—by fear, by indoctrination, by the belief that no one would listen or believe them. That is why I am asking anyone with information, anyone who has lived this nightmare, to come forward. I am working on a book that will expose the Church of the Firstborn for what it truly is—a sect that has operated in the shadows for too long, leaving a path of devastation in its wake. If you have been affected by this group, if you have a story to share, I want to hear from you.
